Air Hockey Table Rules:

These are intended as a guide for home play only.

This is a 2 player game. 1 versus 1 standing at opposite sides of the table.

Decide how many goals win the game. (i.e. 7).

You score a goal when the entire puck (this is the round, flat disc) enters your opponent's goal and falls into the goal tray.

Toss a coin to decide who starts the game. All other games will be started be the losing player.

Fouls:

  • Your pusher must not cross the half way line.
  • If you hit the puck off the table.
  • Striking the puck while it is spinning on top of the table (like a spinning top)
  • Placing your pusher on top of the puck.
  • Striking the puck with any part of your body.
  • When you loose control of your pusher.

If a foul occurs, as above, the non offending playing takes possession of the puck.

If a player though, deliberately stops the ball from entering the goal with his hand, while holding the pusher or not,

he shall lose possession of the puck and the opponent be given 1 free hit at the unguarded goal.

If the puck rebounds out of the goal and back onto the playing surface the goal will not count.

If you concede a goal you then restart the game with a serve from inside your half of the playing area.

If the puck stops in the goal but does not fall into the tray the defender may try to get the puck back into play, without using his hand or placing the pusher on top of the puck.

Just one foot note to all of the above though…….if the defensive player blocks the puck (i.e. no forward motion on his pusher) and the puck permanently leaves the playing area, this is not to be called a foul. The defending player would restart the game.

If you have any other imput or would like to point out a mistake in these instructions you are welcome to email your query.
