Trampolines: – What is the difference and what makes a good trampoline?

The amazing number of trampoline brands can make it hard to choose between them. As experts, Big Game Hunters have analysed the market and stock a wide range of quality and brands, covering the best in cheap, value trampolines and the very best, but still the job of working out what is the difference is daunting.

Based on our experience of 10 years in the trampoline business, this is how we analyse the differences between trampolines:

Trampoline Frame:

The metal tubing must be strong enough to handle heavy bouncers being very energetic, and also to protect properly from rust. Check the frame thickness, the steel gauge used, and the recommended weight limit. Also the frame on some very cheap models can come apart when you move it.

Trampoline Springs:

These are the engines of the trampolines. The more springs, the better bounce. Cheap trampolines compromise here. Some do not use springs, but elastic tubes – probably best to avoid these. The best trampolines use more and longer springs. Go for the most springs you can afford, for the best bounce.

Trampoline Bed:

The black mesh fabric, probably all come from the same factories, since 95% of the world’s output is from two US factories. The real difference is in the anchor bars that are stitched in to the fabric, and the quality of stitching used. Be reassured that all Big Game Hunters Trampolines are well-stitched and high quality.

Frame Pads:

The biggest and most obvious difference between trampolines. These are generally a plastic type fabric wrapped over foam padding. These should extend over the springs, and be strong enough to withstand the hard work they do as you bounce and get on and off. This is an area where you get much more as you go up in price, but if your do get a cheaper trampoline and they wear out through heavy use, don’t worry, we sell great quality replacement beds at low prices.

We hope this helps to explain where the differences are between all the different trampolines, but trust us; we have taken the hard work out of it and chosen a range of 4 levels, all at exceptional prices for the quality. We are experts, so if you don’t feel expert enough yet, call us for more advice, personalised to your trampolining situation.
